“Tasty Solutions for Diabetes” is a half–hour, four–part series for people with diabetes, their families and friends, and anyone interested in leading a healthier life. “Tasty Solutions for Diabetes” will air on public television station KRWG in Las Cruces during Spring 2006. Tasty Solutions host Lola Cunico

Lola Cunico

Lola Cunico, a registered nurse and certified diabetes educator, and Kelley Coffeen, a home economist and food consultant, host the program. Each episode of “Tasty Solutions” features tasty recipes, menu planning ideas and information about diabetes. Two people who are successfully living with diabetes, Maria Martos and Skip Chafin, share their personal experiences and secrets for success.

Expert medical advice comes from Richard A. Jackson, senior physician and medical director with the Joslin Diabetes Center at Harvard Medical School, and licensed clinical psychologist William H. Polonsky, a certified diabetes educator and diabetes book author.

The show is produced by experts with New Mexico State University's Cooperative Extension Service, which has won national awards for its work in reaching thousands of New Mexicans with diabetes. The program is funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

“Tasty Solutions” video producers from New Mexico State University's Agricultural Communications Department created “Southwest Yard & Garden,” a weekly series broadcast throughout the region; dozens of nutrition videos in English, Spanish and Navajo; and international documentaries shown around the world.
